Cue, The Strawbunni Channel, a blog where you get to be inside the mind of one behind everything Strawbunni. Drop by once a week or so for all the insider news on Strawbunni Ink, to get a true behind-the-scenes look of the industry, life as a small business owner, and more.
If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you know I know absolutely cherish the relationships and connections I have built with this little art business of mine. If you’re new here, hi. Welcome!! The Strawbunni Channel is my way of strengthening those connections I was just talking about. No big marketing tactics or hidden agendas, just an artsy girl sharing her life with others. I am so excited to spark conversations, provide insight and share my experiences both as a tattoo artist/studio owner and as a regular ol’ human. You are welcome to engage with this forum by leaving comments and to open conversations with other commenters but if you’d rather lurk and just read along, thank you for being here, friend.
who even are you?
Right. Right. Right. My name is Ali, I am the owner of Strawbunni Ink and a queer, bipoc tattoo artist, since November 2023. I apprenticed at a tattoo shop in Downtown Spokane. I worked in three different tattoo shops, including the one I apprenticed at, before opening my own private studio in May of 2026. Prior to tatttoing, I was a professional boudoir photographer for several years, I also used to teach preschool! I’ve been doing art for as long as I can remember! I took a several year break from traditional art and drawing in my later teenage years/early twenties to focus on photography but came back to it and spent my twenties doing photography and freelance art before making the decision to pursue tattooing.
I love to paint and craft! Crocheting, perler bead art, and stuffie “taxidermy” are some of my favorite crafting actitivies to do. I am a huge lover of all things kawaii/cute and anime! Both of which reflect in my art style. I heavily rely on coffee (okay, not coffee, red bull) and a little sweet treat to get through my day. When I’m not working, I’m usually watching some sort of anime or a crime drama and doing some crafting or hanging out at the skate park with my partner or somewhere outside our pups.
I’m still a baby in the tattoo industry but I’m excited for everything I have to learn (we’re constantly learning and growing in this industry), to take you to come along on this journey with me. I cant wait for you to get to know me, not only as an artist, but as an individual and to share my knowledge, experiences, and sweet little nuggets of life with everyone.
sooo, what should you expect to see on this blog?
Ooo, girl. This space is not only a place for me to authentically express my opinions, thoughts, feelings, etc. as a tattoo artist, studio owner and human being and for even you, to have the same space as a reader, client/supporter, or artist but, this is also a space for you to receive educational and informative tattoo related content, read wild tea, and for you to stay in the know with anything and everything, Strawbunni Ink.
I’ve been a business owner for quite some time and it’s always been a core belief of mine to show my supporters the good, the bad, and the ugly. So buckle up, we will cover all sorts of topics from how I got my tattoo apprenticeship, to the boring day-to-day things, I will feature some of my favorite moments, share honest reviews of tattoo products, and everything in between. I also love giving back to those who support me and my community, and this channel will help me do more of that.
that sounds pretty interesting... Who’s the Strawbunni Channel for?
If you’re still here, probably you lol. No, but really. This is for you if you are interested in learning more about what life is like as a tattoo artist. You’re going to read what I love, what I hate, how I found myself as a tattoo artist. I’ll be sharing the highs and lows of being a small business owner and my journey so far. Get inside my mind and get my perspective of this industry.
If you’re a tattoo “getter” who wants tips and tricks for your appointments, tattoos, finding an artist, etc.. You’re in luck! There’s a lot of information out there and every tattoo artist is different but I am more than happy to share my experiences and what I like/recommend for my clients. Things like finding the right artist for you - it can be so daunting and you might not know exactly what to look for. I want to provide you with a blue print to a successful tattoo appointment - local or not.
It’s for tattoo artists who want to connect and build relationships with other artists. This industry is HUGE and it’s scary sometimes. It can feel lonely. Whether you’re looking for product recommendations or someone to relate to on the tough days.
Whatever your reason, I’m glad you’re here.
okay wait, Ali, what do you mean you love giving back and this channel will help with that?
Part of running a business is planning ahead, future promotions, things for marketing, and most importantly, charging enough for “future you” and such. like planning when to run ads or buy courses. Personally, for me, I ensure I am charging enough through my tattoo work to give away a few days of free tattoos. Recently, I had missed the connections I made with my community through a previous business, which is when I decided to create this blog. Ideally, as this blog grows, the more opportunities I will have to give back.
this is all pretty convincing, when to expect blogs?
I am a one-woman team. I do all the prep for the blogs, writing, product reviews, giveaways, etc. on top of tattooing, so you’ll have to be a little patient with me. For now, you can expect a new blog every Friday evening (or so). To stay up-to-date, be sure to sign up for my email newsletter.
Thanks again for your support
I can’t begin to express my gratitude for the support I receive and for you being here following along with my tattoo journey. With you and all your support, I am able to have a career I absolutely cherish and love! Be sure to follow along on socials if you aren’t already to stay in closer touch!
